Chassis Number: S268RM
A magnificent example of The Springfield Produced Rolls Royce Phantom 1. This car is in superb original mechanical condition & has never been messed around with right down to the original ceramic insulators on the twin coils. It has won prizes at Schloss Dyck & the Prestigious Villa D'Este Concours attesting to its collectability. Rarely do we get such impeccable cars with such impeccable provenance.
The car is finished in Pristine Black paint as when new. To the interior is Black leather & black carpets. Under the bonnet the car is just as it left the factory with every detail correct.
Chassis Number S268RM is unique; a 1927 Springfield built Rolls-Royce that has all correct history; the car was delivered as a four place tourer but sent back to Rolls-Royce for the fitting of the current Rolls-Royce Custom Coachwork body in December 1927. (See John de Campi ‚Rolls-Royce in America’ pp 81/230/231). Then it was owned by Joe Carmen for some 45 years where it resided in a museum until the present owner acquired it.
The car has been beautifully restored by the Woods Brothers in New England and has the added benefit of an overdrive unit to complement long distance tour driving. Everything on the car is otherwise original and it has won honours in the Rolls-Royce Owner’s Club, the CCCA, at Pebble Beach 2000 and at Villa d’Este 2005. Class winner Retro Classics meets Barock 2015. Class winner in 2009 At Schwetzingen also.
Regrettably it was pouring rain upon the day of our visit so we are rescheduling a proper photo shoot in the next few weeks. The car may be viewed by appointment in Northern Switzerland. The car comes with an assortment of paperwork including its original instruction book.
