In March 1961, the car world was surprised with a benchmark. Even the competitors were impressed with the introduction of the Jaguar E-type. For example, another legend in the car world, Enzo Ferrari, spoke about the E-type; "The most beautiful car ever made". To this day he is right ..
This type 1.5 2 + 2 is in very good condition and is one of the last before type II was introduced. Also a beautiful car, but not as iconic as the first type.
The yellow paintwork has been reapplied once in the past. The same applies to the leather interior trim. Other elements, including the characteristic 3-spoke wooden steering wheel, exude exactly enough patina to give you the feeling of stepping into something historic (beautiful). Because that's it!
This Jaguar E-type series 1.5 2 + 2 has started neck turning in America. The first owner owned the car until 2000, after which this beautiful E-type was brought to the Netherlands by the current owner. The second owner has overhauled the car considerably in recent years. Technically, the car has been completely renovated and has been restored with great care. The car is equipped with many photo reports, documentation and original invoices. Outside of the condition of the car, only 637 pieces of the type 1.5 2 + 2 were made. Rarer than its successor, which had a total of 5598 pieces.
From 1967 to 1968, an intermediate series with the unofficial name 1 1/2 was built as a transition phase. These models were very similar to the Series 1, but at the end they no longer had the glass-covered headlamps and other control levers. Gradually, equipment from the upcoming Series 2 was added while the bodywork always remained that of the Series 1. At Jaguar itself, these 1 1 / 2s simply fell under the Series 1.
We can keep talking about the insanely beautiful design of the E-Type for hours. Let us do that while enjoying a cup of coffee. In this story we want to emphasize the beautiful condition of the body and cockpit; provided with matching numbers!
