Ford Comete (Ford France) 1953

Between 1952 and 1954 Ford France produced the Comete. Designed by Stabilimenti FarinaI and the bodywork by Facel Metallon it was intended for the luxury segment. Late ’53 and early ’54 it was the most expensive Ford on the market. The 2.2 litre V8 produced 80 Hp and used an electro-magnetic manual Cotal transmission. Of the original 2265 built only 50 Comete’s are beloved to still exist. Our car was initially first registered in 1953 and lived for the majority of its life in Nice on the French Riviera. The good care and attention this car received formed the perfect base for an extensive restoration. Special consideration deserves the fact that original quality of the panel work and interior trim were so good that they were able to be completely retained during the restoration. In 2016 the last owner, a German gentleman, overhauled the gearbox, not because it was needed but just in case. This car is in excellent condition as it stands in our showroom. The paintwork is lovely, the interior trim very authentic. The engine runs very smoothly, the gearbox shifts as if it was factory fresh. There is not a spot of rust to be seen anywhere. It comes with extensive and complete documentation including the original brochure and various invoices. In short, a very special car, not often seen on the market in such outstanding condition.
