1974 BMW 2002
This 1974 BMW 2002 is unrestored and in running and driving condition with 93K miles on the odometer. Unrestored BMW 2002 are becoming very difficult to find and this is a great car in great original condition.
The car has been with the previous owner since 1997 and he is the 3 owner since new. It was driven seasonally until 2001, then placed into long term garaged storage and started frequently for engine lubrication, with the goal of eventual restoration. The car was recently returned to running order, with a flushed gas tank, some replaced fuel lines, rebuilt distributor and serviced alternator, and a replacement starter. The brakes were completely replaced at this time. The car is running strong with a solid body despite some surface rust.
Original paint is in decent condition with surface rust on the hood and trunk and the passengers front shows a crease and bubbling at the panel edge. The passenger door has some rust at the rear edge and two quarter-sized rust patches can be seen just fore of the driver’s side rear bumper. The greenhouse glass shows clearly and all lenses are free of cracks. The chrome bumpers and accents are in need of polish, but look to be uncorroded. The 13″ Ronal alloy wheels were fitted many years ago.
The interior is well-preserved with good vinyl seats. The window cranks, door handles, and seat belts all work and the dash and headliner are in good condition. Older carpets are dusty and loose in places. The Alpine stereo is a period aftermarket item. An Alpina shift knob has been installed. There are two cracks in the steering wheel.
The 2.0L four-cylinder engine runs well and benefits from a recent fuel flush and oil change. It breathes through a twin-choke Weber carburetor. The distributor was recently fully rebuilt, a new alternator belt and bushings were installed, and the starter motor replaced.
A full-size spare and the original jacking kit are included.
