Porsche added an open-topped variant to the 911 model range for 1967 featuring a stainless steel-clad roll bar, removable roof panel, and a detachable plastic rear window (a fixed glass window wasn't made available until the following year). Commemorating Porsche's successive wins at the famous Sicilian road race, the new model was termed Targa, a term coined by other manufacturers since to describe this body configuration. The new 911 Targa was as close as Porsche came to 'wind in the hair' 911 motoring until the introduction of a full Cabriolet in the early 1980s, and thanks to its iconic looks and popularity, the 911 Targa remain in production today. After 1973, it was decided that the 2.4 litre wasn’t really fast enough for the 911, with the impending American emissions standards threatening to slow the model down to the point that ordinary Cadillacs would smoke its droopy tail. The solution: to take the 2.7-litre engine developed for the Carrera RS, detune it a bit, and make it standard across the board.

This made the 911 a very usable sports car for all driving conditions. It was only natural that capacity for mainstream production should be increased to 2687cc, which gave a good increase in torque to match the 150bhp of the 911 2.7 Coupe.

Finshed in brown with a tan interior which is in perfect condtion.

This delightful LHD 911S Targa is simlply beauitful to look at and drive. With the classic 911 shape. Finshed in brown a rare colour to find on a Porsche. The 911S drives like a 911 should. It just glides along the road. This car has been well looked after by it’s current owner.

Sat on four unmarket wheels. Paintwork is perfect with no marks.

Classic and Vintage Car Servicing Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars operate a large workshop that provides a range of services for their automotive client’s cars in addition to undertaking more specialised work when required. We recently stripped and fitted new valves to a 4.5 litre 1925 Sunbeam for example & relined a crank damper on a Rolls Royce 25/30. Classic and Vintage Car Restoration We typically have about eight full classic car restoration projects being undertaken at any one time. For example, we are currently working on a ‘nut and bolt’ restoration of three Rolls Royce Phantom III’s, two V12 Lagonda’s, a Jaguar XK120 and are painting several other classic vehicles. Our trim shop is next door to our showroom & does a fine job of re-upholstering car interiors.
