This icon among English classics was delivered in June 1971 in the USA. After being well cared for here and having been well preserved by the dry climate, the beautiful convertible came to the Netherlands in 1997. Since then, the in the delicious old-fashioned (and original) Old English White painted cabrio had two owners and is well maintained. Recently, for example, the main brake cylinder and heater unit have been completely replaced.
The chrome (including the like new wire wheels) is very neat and undamaged. All the panels are tight and the seams between wings / doors / bonnet / boot lid are really beautiful and original. Original? Yes, because the whole car shows nothing of a previously carried out (or partial) restoration. The underfloor also shows no traces of welding or repair repair. The paintwork is used of course and is showing in our opinion a beautiful patina that we rarely see. We can therefore speak of a unique E-type.
The smooth 4.2-liter six cylinder runs perfectly and once driving and using the torque and enjoying the wonderful sound that, like a orchestra, leaves the stainless steel exhaust, you feel like the king of the road. The steering is perfect and so is shifting gear. And the brakes as the best you can think of (partly due to the 4-piston calipers in front) This is what we mean by a very original car, with some traces of use here and there, but you can still feeling its English classic car soul.
The last owner has enjoyed the car for five years after we sold it to him, and wants to sell now due to a long stay abroad. He also has fitted some nice and useful extras. We mention a cruise control that is installed in the ashtray and a Tripmaster in the glovebox. This one is very useful for those who want to drive a tour rally. The 3-point seat belts also provide extra safety.
Of course we can write long stories why we like this E-type 4.2 Series 2 Roadster, but do not you think it’s much more fun to experience this yourself ..?
