Description

Description

The model we present for sale is the one of the generation that follows the movement of the sedan from the Aronde 1300 to the P60 in October 1958. The front bumper becomes more tortured and goes up on each side of the grille. The rear lights change with a conical upper part. The roof of the Simca Aronde Plein Ciel is modified, it is higher and we take advantage of it to enlarge the rear window. In the cockpit, the new rectangular dial makes its appearance.

The following year, SIMCA wants to lower its prices to make the cars more competitive. This is the look of the "S" finish for simplified. Externally, they can be recognized by the many borrowings they make from the sedan, from the bumpers to the partially rubberized bumpers in the lead. Inside, the dashboard is painted instead of trimmed and the leather is abandoned in favor of imitation. However, fans of the previous finish can order it under the name of "grand carrossier". Technically, all versions benefit from the Special Flash engine which is increased to 60 hp. At the end of 1960, the Simca Aronde Plein Ciel and Océane are modernized by equipping them with the best mechanics available: the brand new Rush Super engine. If the displacement does not change, this 5-stage engine is more pleasant, reliable and gains a few small horses not very noticeable at the wheel.

Rare and popular beauties, the Simca Aronde Plein Ciel and Océane are sought-after pieces in a Simca enthusiast's collection.

The presented car is dated 06/04/1961, its serial number is 1755364, the car is registered in France and has 91 000 km on the odometer. This is the last year of production of this model, the following year will sell the 1961 stocks. The car is of Swiss origin and has undergone a total body and upholstery restoration 3 years ago. The upholstery is beautiful leather, very comfortable and provides an excellent driving position. The dashboard has been repainted and all accessories are operational. Note that the door panels are in perfect condition as well, the headliner is not trimmed. The carpets are in good condition, everything is an invitation to travel.

The bodywork is in very good condition, no rust on the door sills and rocker panels, the alignment of the doors is perfect, the doors close without forcing and one will appreciate the subtle junction between the door windows and the small rear deflectors, of American inspiration, which, when they are lowered, give the so much desired aspect of the big American coupes without pillars. The paintwork is very well done and has no particular flaws. The white roof is also in very good condition. The car is quite special in this color combination, the roof is usually black on the Plein Ciel. The chromes have been redone and are in perfect condition.

The mechanics have been completely overhauled, invoices to support this; the engine runs very well, no suspicious smoke when starting, the filters have been changed, the fuel pump is recent as well as the accessory belts. The clutch is operational, there are no leaks in the gearbox, the steering is smooth and precise, the running gear has been greased as recommended, the wheel cylinders have been changed. The exhaust is in very good condition; the rear axle is in good condition, no suspicious noises or leaks.

The undercarriages are healthy, the floors are clean, the car is really in very good condition and will satisfy a passionate or the one who would have a crush as it was often the case at the time of the great French elegance!

Our opinion

Unquestionably, a popular French car of great class which found its roots in American designs and at GT VINTAGE, we are very fan!
