Description

Gateway Classic Cars of Denver is proud to present this beautiful 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Stingray.
1967 L88 Corvette was powered by a highly modified version of Chevy's 427-cubic-inch V-8. Although the factory-claimed horsepower was 435, real power output was likely somewhere between 540 and 580, enough to allow a "stock" L88 to run the quarter-mile in the mid-to-high 11-second range. The L88 could be ordered only with certain options such as a performance suspension, Positraction differential, and upgraded brakes, while other features such as a radio and A/C were not available. The big block motor had the rare open-chambered aluminum heads designed to increase airflow and decrease the compression ratio to 12.0:1, a performance camshaft, and a four-barrel Holley carburetor
Since the car was to be built in limited numbers, Arkus-Duntov wanted as many of them as possible to end up on racetracks. As such, GM tried to discourage individuals from buying the L88 (the car's extremely conservative power rating was a ploy designed to turn off the casual consumer), instead focusing on racing teams. The L88 stayed in production until 1969.

Only 116 of these were ever produces. 10 of which were leased to the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969 as a reward of their great accomplishments for the whopping price of $1.

Owned by the seller for 21+ years. Matching numbers vehicle that was restored back to its rightful configuration. 60,000 miles on the rebuild with a 12 bolt rear end carrying 4:56 gears.
Painted a beautiful LeMans Blue, with a gun metal gray interior.
The side pipes, chrome bumpers and badging really set this gem apart from any other car.
