With a production run of about 150 left-hand drive Vetroresina’s and the sought-after dry sump system, each existing example may rightly be considered a rarity today. The air conditioning option was virtually standard on this first series, as Ferrari sought to entice the public with luxury ext’s. This specimen is no exception. For the appreciation of a true Vetroresina, we can confirm that its low weight and dry sump engine configuration define its essentiële characteristics. This Vetroresina offers the lightest and purest driving experience within the entire formal 308-328 range.Luckily, this example has always remained in good hands, investing with care to preserve this unique Ferrari in original condition, such as can rarely be found today. To avoid irreparable damage, traditional restoration methods have been abandoned. Instead, expert attention has been paid to underbody and technical quality, with a keen eye for originality and authenticity. The quality of the lightweight Scaglietti bodywork was certainly above average at the time. Nevertheless, in the early years the Vetroresina’s were often underrated and used for motorsport purposes, for which they proved to be very suitable. Many Vetroresina bodyëns fell victim to commercialële pressure over the years, where they were modified to look more like steel bodyëns in order to become more attractive to the market. Nowadays, however, the story is very different and these very early examples are extremely sought after and expensive. And rightly so, if you ask us.It is precisely this light bodywork, however, that makes a Vetroresina so unique. It is precisely this feature that attests to the difference between this rare pre series 308 Ferrari and its heavier successors. Our example in Brummen therefore presents itself in a very original and authentic way. Despite the fact that the car through the years suffered the normal signs of use, the whole is neat and it is wonderful to have such’s original copy in the collection. This is a European version that resided in Monaco since new for quite some time. Looking at the bodywork, the paint still looks neat with normal signs of use, as well as the black trims and windows. In doing so, the doors close perfectly and we find nice fits. Also interesting to mention is that this is the color Rosso Chiaro. The interior of this 308 is also very original and looks very presentable apart from a few signs of use. We find beautiful upholstery that shows some signs of use after more than 40 years, but simply looks stunning because the originality radiates from it. That is what we love about this Ferrari. We also find those nice accessories like an analog stopwatch and the Voxson radio. The instrumentation looks really very good and all the switches on the dashboard are in very good condition. The carpets are still in good condition, as are black door panels. Driving this Ferrari is really a treat because compared to its younger and heavier brothers, you feel the lighter weight with every turn taken. The engine sounds fantastic and we love the sound of the earlier examples. In addition, this 308 steers very well and this is technically a good car.
