Manufacturer: Carrosso Classic & Sportscars Eekstraat 2 8375HN OLDEMARKT, NL 0625351515 http://www.carrosso.com [email protected] below for information in EnglishFiat 124 Sport Spider CS1 1800 1978• Originally from the sunny climate of the United States• 1.8-liter engine with 5-speed manual transmission• Beige fabric soft top in good condition• New stainless steel bumpers• Wooden steering wheel by MOMO• Abarth Classic wheels• Attractive color combination in dark blue with a beige soft top and beige interior• 2+2 (rear seat)HISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONDid you know that the design of the 124 Sport Spider has Dutch roots? This is all thanks to the well-known Dutch designer Tom Tjaarda, who was employed by Pininfarina at the time. The design is based on Tjaarda’s earlier design for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which was ultimately not produced due to too many European influences. Fiat, however, did show interest in this design, and it thus formed the basis for the Sport Spider, which was introduced six months after the popular four-door Fiat 124 (in 1967). Over the years, the exterior was slightly modified and the engines were upgraded. This ultimately led to the CS1 model, which was equipped with a 1.8-liter engine and was sold exclusively in the United States. The example we are offering was manufactured in 1978 and was imported to the Netherlands in 1999 from the favorable climate of the U.S. Extensive documentation is available covering the period since 1999, including invoices and appraisal reports. Also handy: a Dutch-language parts catalog is included with the car. The chassis number is 124CS10136873.EXTERIORThe stunning design remains as beautiful and timeless as ever. The dark blue paint (Blu Scuro) has the color code 449. This stylish color pairs beautifully with the beige interior and the beige soft top. The bumps on the hood are characteristic of this model. The Pininfarina emblem is prominently displayed on the side. The bumpers were replaced on both sides in 2026 (at a cost of over € 1,000) with stainless steel ones. The paint is in excellent condition with a deep shine and only a few signs of wear. The rubber trim and chrome accents are in pristine condition. The lighting is in good condition and has been partially replaced (including the turn signals). The car is equipped with 13-inch 4-spoke Abarth CD30 Style Classic alloy wheels. The beige soft top is made of fabric and is in good condition with no tears. The car’s lines are beautiful, and the body is still in very solid condition, thanks to the dry climate in the United States. INTERIORThe interior features beige leather upholstery and is in good condition with some signs of wear. The steering wheel has been replaced with a beautiful wooden California-style model from MOMO (valued at nearly € 500). The wooden dashboard features a comprehensive instrument panel with various gauges, including an oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, voltmeter, and a tachometer. The interior also includes heating and a radio/cassette player. Thanks to the rear seat, four people can enjoy the open air. TECHNICAL The engine compartment looks dry and clean and houses the 1,756 cc 4-cylinder engine with code 132A1*031*6, which comes standard with a 5-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with Michelin tires in good condition, with more than enough tread remaining. Thanks in particular to its light weight of 960 kg and rear-wheel drive, the Spider is a joy to drive. The Fiat has been well maintained over the years, and it shows; it drives, shifts, and brakes very well and smoothly.GENERALThe Fiat Sport Spider 124 is a convertible produced by the Italian automaker Fiat from 1966 to 1985. It was one of the most popular sports cars of its time and was praised for its excellent performance, comfortable ride, and attractive appearance. The car was initially powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produced 89 pk. The car underwent continuous development and was equipped with larger engines, eventually culminating in a 2.0-liter engine. Production of the Spider 124 was discontinued in 1985. The car remains a popular classic among enthusiasts of Italian sports cars. The 1978 model was equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts (DOHC), an engine design by former Ferrari engineer Aurelio Lampredi. In terms of appearance, the Fiat 124 Sport Spider is characterized by its long hood, low body, and stylish lines. The open top allows for optimal driving enjoyment, while the classic Italian design continues to garner much admiration even today. The car was particularly popular in the United States, where a large portion of the production was sold. Today, the 1978 Fiat 124 Sport Spider is a beloved classic among collectors and enthusiasts of Italian cars. Thanks to its timeless design, characterful engine, and relatively good availability of parts, the Spider remains an attractive choice for lovers of classic convertibles. Despite the reputation of older Fiats when it comes to maintenance, the 124 Spider is often praised for its driving experience and charm.Fiat 124 Sport Spider CS1 1800 1978• From the sunny climate of the United States• 1.8-liter engine with 5-speed transmission• Beige fabric soft top in good condition• New stainless steel bumpers• MOMO wooden steering wheel• Abarth Classic alloy wheels• Attractive color combination in dark blue with a beige soft top and beige interior• 2+2 (rear seats)HISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONDid you know that the design of the 124 Sport Spider has Dutch roots?
