This 1973 Fiat 128 Rally is a recently restored example finished in Rosso Arancio. This included a repaint of the shell, a rebuild of mechanical components, new interior pieces, and more as detailed below. The seller has owned the car for four years and has added 500 kilometers since the restoration was completed. The 1290cc inline-four is said to be original to the car, and sends power to the front wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. This 1973 Fiat 128 Rally is currently located in Croatia and is being offered with documents from the restoration, and a Bulgarian title.
New Rally bumpers were installed, along with new front, rear and, bumper-mounted, auxiliary lights. Period-correct, magnesium Cromodora 5″x 13 wheels wear Toyo 165/65R tires.
The 128 featured strut suspension in the front with an anti-roll bar, and an independent rear with a single, transverse leaf spring. The restoration included new struts, shock absorbers, control arms, joints, and bushings.
New brake rotors, pads, drums, shoes, and soft lines were installed, and new hard lines were fabricated. Exhaust pipes and mufflers were replaced.
The cabin received new leather seating, leatherette door panels and carpeting, but retains its original dashpad, and steering wheel. The Rally package included a tachometer, and water temperature and oil pressure gauges took the place of the ashtray near the center of the dash. Front sports seats with headrests and a two-spoke sports steering wheel replaced the standard items. The odometer shows 19k kilometers, but true mileage is unknown.
The Lampredi-designed 1290cc SOHC engine, with a twin-choke Weber carburetor and an 8.9:1 compression ratio, was rated at 67 horsepower when new. The engine was rebuilt to factory specs, which included a new oil pump, water pump, ignition system, pistons, and all belts and hoses.
The car is currently located in Croatia and can be inspected per request.
