Fiat in 1971 offered its own interpretation of what was then called the "family sports car."

Compared to the 128 sedan, it completely changes the floorpan, whose wheelbase is reduced by as much as 22 cm and equipped with a supplementary perimeter frame to stiffen the structure and improve weight distribution. The great attention to road holding is also evidenced by the sport-type suspension.

The body is rather boxy with a distinctly elegant rear-end rise.
