The Fiat 850 Bertone Racer is a rare Italian coupe produced in 1971, with a limited total of 2,890 units built. It is based on the Fiat 850 Spider, deviating from the usual development sequence, and features a distinctive body design that highlights the collaboration between Fiat and Bertone.
Delivered new in the United States and later acquired by a Belgian collector, this model showcases a unique history and design heritage. The car is finished in Arancio Miura, with interior upholstery matching the Miura theme. The wheels are Miura-style replicas painted in gold, emphasizing the car’s Italian character.
This Fiat 850 Bertone Racer has undergone extensive refurbishment. New bumpers, windshield, headlights with rings, door handles, locks, and all window and door seals have been installed. The brakes have been overhauled with new master cylinder, brake pads, and brake lines. Four new tires have been fitted, and the suspension components, including control arm bushings and wheel bearings, have been replaced. The fuel tank has been treated to prevent rust, and the transmission has been serviced with new shaft boots and clutch.
The engine has been thoroughly overhauled, with new head gasket, valve seals, timing chain, and all oil seals and gaskets. Bearings and pistons were inspected, and the carburetor was overhauled. Cooling and heating systems have been upgraded with a new radiator, heater core, water pump, and hoses.
This model combines compact dimensions with a design that reflects Bertone’s and Lamborghini’s influence, making it a distinctive collector’s piece.
