Description

Make: FIAT
Model: 1100

The Fiat 1100 model was born in 1936 to last until 1969, throughout this period it would undergo numerous updates to both mechanics and bodywork.
1962 is the 'year of presentation of the 1100 D, which is considered one of the most reliable Italian cars of the period, so much so that it was used by various state bodies as a car for institutional services throughout the 1960s.
In the fall of 1962 a further restyling, still retaining the bodywork of the "1200 Granluce," a now final choice, gave birth to the "1100 D." What changed were mainly the interior, the headliner, and the grille, which became flat and simplified without chrome, with rectangular front lights. In addition, all versions adopted "upwind" opening doors, already present on the Special, instead of butterfly doors.
This car inherited the engine of the 1200 Granluce, an inline four-cylinder with 1221 cc
and 50 hp CUNA power at 5300 rpm, an engine not modern but proven and reliable.
Front engine rear-wheel drive, 4-speed transmission and 4-wheel drum brakes, and a top speed of 130 km/h are the main features of the 1100 D.

Aesthetically, the body line follows the previous models, acceptable degree of finish both inside and outside, the space comfortable and habitable. Technical characteristics of the vehicle: Engine: 4-cylinder in-line rods and rockers 1221 cc, max power 55 hp SAE at 5000 rpm, bore x stroke = 72 x 75 mm, compression ratio 8 : 1 , max torque 8.6 mkg SAE at 2500 rpm; fueled by a Weber IMPE 4 or Solex C32 PBIC inverted carburetor; transmission with front engine, rear wheel drive, 4-speed gearbox with Saxomat dry single-plate clutch, 4.3 : 1 axle ratio
Body: 4-passenger 4-door sedan, load-bearing body, independent-wheel front axle, rigid axle rear axle with leaf springs and hydraulic shock absorbers; hydraulic drum brakes on all 4 wheels, pedal operation.
