Fiat 1300S Vignale Coupé 1965

This is no. 5 of only about 50 produced. It features the S version with Giannini tuning, producing 67 horsepower. The car comes with original delivery and maintenance documentation, highlighting its well-maintained condition. It has a beautiful green metallic paint and a Bordeaux red leather interior.

History and Documentation

This rare beauty was built by coachbuilder Vignale, with only around 50 units made. This particular example is the fifth produced and was delivered new in Bergamo, Italy, on April 13, 1965. The original documentation, including the delivery document, provides comprehensive ownership and maintenance history, ensuring a complete ownership record. The Fiat remained in Italy until 2015, after which it was exported to a private collection in Greece. It was later brought to the Netherlands, where mechanical investments were made. The car is in excellent visual and mechanical condition. With EU documentation included, registration is straightforward. Maintenance invoices are also included.

Exterior

The car’s elegant lines are complemented by its attractive green metallic color, with paintwork in good condition. The body panels fit seamlessly, indicating a damage-free history. As a coachbuilt Vignale coupé, each car has unique features; this example has dual taillight units, which are believed to be unique, giving it a more imposing look. The headlights are made by Carello. It sits on 13-inch Cromodora CD3 alloy wheels with chrome Fiat hub caps, fitted with 185/70 BF Goodrich tires.

Interior

The interior features red vinyl seats, black carpets, and a wood-trimmed dashboard. Standard features include power front windows, rear vent windows, and a radio with preset buttons. The front seatbacks fold forward for rear seat access. The dashboard has a horizontal speedometer calibrated up to 180 km/h and indicator lights for engine speed, instead of a tachometer. The interior is in very good condition, with upholstery on seats, door panels, rear seat, and headliner well preserved. Windows and weatherstripping are also in good shape. The odometer reads 23,031 kilometers. The original Nardi steering wheel remains in place. The trunk contains a full-size steel spare tire.

Technical

The Fiat has been well maintained over the years. The previous owner overhauled the transmission, brakes, and carburetors. In 2016, components such as the crankshaft oil seal, thermostat, ignition points, and brake lines were replaced. The front brake calipers were overhauled in February 2020. In 2026, the underbody was dry-ice blasted. The engine has been modified by Giannini Automobili, a company considered the Roman alternative to Abarth in the 1960s. Modifications include changes to the cylinder head, camshaft, carburetor, air filter, exhaust, and final drive, significantly increasing power from 60 to 67 pk. The top speed is approximately 150 km/h, up from 140 km/h for the standard model. The engine is paired with a four-speed manual transmission with steering-column shifters. The car drives, brakes, and shifts well.

General

This compact Italian coupé was built in the mid-1960s by Carrozzeria Vignale, based on Fiat chassis and technology.
