Description

And we can’t argue with that. Because you simply cannot hide that smile when you start up the 4.7 litre V8! The Mustang was introduced in 1964, together with the Chevrolet Chevelle and the Plymouth Barracuda. All three cars were quickly labelled as “pony cars”. A name that the Mustang immediately goes against; this racehorse is anything but a pony. The American flair, the roaring V8 sound and the wonderfully soft suspension are hard to compare with anything else. When the weather is nice, we quickly catch ourselves making ‘unnecessary detours; certainly not the quickest way home!’

Our ‘Stang’ is Wimbledon White and has the black luxury interior. She was fully nut and bolt restored 2400 kilometres ago and her technology was completely modernised then. The engine runs on modern ignition, all four wheels are fitted with power-assisted performance disc brakes and the dashboard is partly digital. And for the real enthusiasts among us: a Magnum-5 box, with which you can control the rearing horse yourself. If you dare.

Your Spotify can be played via the concealed radio and speakers. No concessions to the ‘old school’ style, but all the comforts of today. She was born in 1965, in Metuchen, New Jersey. One of the three factories where Ford produced its racehorses. This is where her current engine, the 289 cubic inch V8 block with ‘a double barrel carburettor’ was installed. Sounds like a useful American Cool Classic, doesn’t it?
