Description

Ford presented the Mustang in 1964, a sporty car for the general public that would become ééone of the most legendary cars ever made. Ford was in the midst of trying to beat Ferrari at Le Mans and thus had close contacts with Carroll Shelby. So hands were almost naturally joined to bring a very sporty Mustang to the market. And so, in 1965, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 was born. Equipped with an extra peppery 289 ci V8 with 306 horsepower through a different exhaust for better exhaust flow and a Holley carburetor for more fresh air. Along with a manual transmission, the Shelby GT350 provided plenty of awe. The suspension was also completely revised, as the original Mustang had a rigid axle and leaf spring suspension at the rear, while the front end was far too supple to be capable of sporting deeds. So Carroll Shelby worked wonders by adding Koni adjustable shock absorbers, stabilizer bars and relocating the anchor points for better stability. The hood was made of fiberglass and by applying some slimming treatments in other areas as well, the weight decreased by 100 kilograms. In 1968, the GT350 was revised, including the arrival of the new 302 ci engine and more options such as an automatic transmission and some options tuned a little more for comfort. Rest assured that it was still not a subdued and tame car: what remained was a powerful V8, a roll cage behind the front seats, the good suspension and numerous other modifications so characteristic of the GT350. Since Carroll Shelby had meanwhile been removed from the project, the Cobra name was added at quite a pace, and so it can also be seen on this example. The red GT350 you see here dates from 1968 and thus features the Cobra logos on the front fenders, indicating the updated version of the GT350. While the first versions were only available with a manual transmission, in 1968 an automatic transmission was also available on the option list, which is what the first owner of this car did. This owner, from California, will undoubtedly be surprised to see the car now: in beautiful condition and completely restored. The body of this Shelby Cobra is beautiful, painted in Candy Apple Red it is a feast for the eyes, with the original striping, bright hood with large air vents and louvers, the optional ten-spoke wheels and beautiful lines. The interior is also absolutely correct, including the roll cage, sport steering wheel and on the glove box the signature of the only man in the world that we too would press a marker into our hands to put a doodle on this car: Carroll Shelby. Driving this Mustang is an experience in itself. What a force, both in terms of music and also acceleration and experience. The engine is fierce, gurgling and letting the wider area know that the owner in that red Mustang is having the most fun of anyone in the region. After the restoration, the car has always been neatly maintained so that there is a completely ready GT350. The car comes complete with Marti report and service booklet, this Mustang completely ready for a new, wild adventure!
