Description

1931 Ford Model A Vicky

In late 1930, Ford introduced the Victoria as an upscale/luxury Model A, with a slight bustle back design, leather wrapped roof, larger doors and a very roomy back seat, among other upgrades.

It was still powered by the venerable 201 CI 4 cylinder flat head and 3 speed manual gearbox and was as reliable as ever.

All of that is what drew the owner to purchase her in 2013. He was an avid pre-war classic car enthusiast with a focus on Model A's.

Upon arrival here in CT the owner set to making it a reliable travel car so he and his lady could head out to the Adirondacks, Newport or Hershey without worry. He replaced the wiring harness, installed a 6V alternator, bulbs (rear with LED), rebuilt the head/valves, the transmission, put new tires on it and then drove it, doing regular maintenance as needed. The odometer shows 11,300 miles, his wife feels they easily put that on it in the 13 years they owned the car.

Driving a Model A 1000 miles a year may seem difficult, but not if you're participating in rallies all along the eastern seaboard and throughout New England.

The paint and interior were in very good condition and continue to hold that, with just a couple of small stains in the front seats that just need some fabric treatment to get them out. The paint is Copra Drab over Chicle Drab and there are a few chips absorbed from all the miles it's been driven but I feel it's still good enough to pull awards at local shows.

This is a rust free car and the underside shows as well as the upper side.

Run through the usual starting procedure for a Model A and it fires right to life and runs a like a champ. It's only 40 HP, but the torquey little 4 cylinder feels stronger than that and moves the car along at 40-50 MPH without much problem.

The rod brakes are nearly as strong as hydraulic brakes and stop the car very well.

Inside, all the gauges work (alt/fuel and speed) and the Autolite heater will make the coldest of passengers open the window .. it can heat up the interior right quick.

A few years ago the owner fell ill and passed away in 2024, but while he was starting his battle, he went through the car and did a slew of things for the car:

All the wires were checked, a terminal block was replaced, anti-freeze added, oil changed, new coil installed, replaced points and condenser, and installed a new fuel line.

This car is ready to go and comes with a folder full of receipts and notes on this car.

If you're new to the enthusiast community and want something that is easy to work on, easy to drive and can fit a small family, this is your car.

The Victoria was not mass produced by Ford, the bodies were often built by Briggs or Murray and history shows that approximately 40,000 were built .. compared to over 1 Million Model A's in general .. that's only 4% of Model A's produced were Vicky's.

Asking price on this Victoria is $22,000
