The E type and one of the most famous models of the automobile manufacturer Jaguar , was a revolutionary car in design, driving characteristics and aesthetics for which it was ahead of its time. Significant were the thoughts of Enzo Ferrari, who called this car 'the most beautiful car ever built'. Designed by Malcol SAyer , to whom earlier models were also owed, the E type was designed as a two-seater sports grand tourer. It abandoned the classic chassis with side members and cross members of the earlier XK series for a more modern monocoque solution.
From a commercial point of view it was a great success.
