Description

Jaguar E-type Coupe 4,2 Series 2 for saleThe Jaguar E-Type S2 FHC belongs to one of the most iconic sports car families ever built. When the Series 1 E-Type arrived in 1961, it was a direct evolution of Jaguar’s legendary Le Mans – winning D-Type, borrowing its monocoque-inspired construction and long, sleek proportions. Over the years Jaguar refined the concept, leading to the Series 2 cars like this one – slightly more developed, more usable, and with small but meaningful improvements in cooling, brakes, and comfort. The E-Type would eventually be followed by the Series 3 V12, a completely different character with a bigger engine and a heavier grand-touring feel, making the earlier E-Types, especially the Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe, something of a sweet spot. They keep the purity of the original design while offering the usability and updates that came just before Jaguar moved into the V12 era. This 1970 Jaguar E-Type S2 FHC sits right in that perfect place in the model’s timeline.Exterior: The exterior of this Jaguar E Type S2 FHC is finished in the gorgeous color Regency Red, which is also the original color according to the heritage certification. It’s a shade that really enhances the beautiful lines of the Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Coupe. The paintwork is deep with an excellent finish, though being an older paint job, there are a few small imperfections to be found. The chrome is in nice condition, and both doors and the trunk close well. The car sits at a nice and level ride height and rolls on chrome wire-spoke wheels with the correct Michelin XVS tires, all with good tread. Interior: Opening the door to the Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Coupe, you’re greeted by probably my personal favorite interior color in an E-Type: cinnamon. It’s the perfect tone of brown and pairs beautifully with the dark red exterior. This is also the original interior color according to the car’s certificate. The interior is in excellent condition, with a super fit and finish on every panel. All the materials appear as they did when the car left the factory. The seats have been excellently reupholstered at some point, the carpets are superb, and the headliner is spotless. Being a Series 2 FHC, you really sit well in it. You have a more adjustable seat compared to the early cars, as well as headrests. Everything inside the car functions perfectly as it should.Engine and Mechanics: The 1970 Jaguar E-Type S2 FHC features the classic 4.2-litre DOHC inline-six. It’s a proven engine concept, reliable, low-maintenance, and easy to work on. The engine is paired with a smooth 4-speed full-synchro gearbox. Mechanically, the car is super. The engine runs very quietly and smoothly and has excellent power. The car was recently brought back onto the road after a 7-year hiatus. During this process, the brakes were refurbished, including a new brake servo, and the carburetors were gone through. The only things that differ from original at the moment are a set of stainless-steel headers for slightly better sound and throttle response and upgraded four piston front brake calipers(Coopercraft). General mechanical specifications for the Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Coupe: 4.2L inline-six, twin-cam (DOHC) Power: ≈ 265 hp  Torque: ≈ 325 Nm Triple SU carburetors (European spec) 4-speed full-synchromesh manual gearbox Independent rear suspension Four-wheel disc brakes Rack-and-pinion steering History and Documentation: According to the heritage certificate for this Jaguar E-Type Series 2 Coupe, the car was originally destined for New York. Our theory, however, is that it was never actually used in New York, or perhaps never even crossed the Atlantic, because Swedish records show the car was registered in Sweden in November 1970, just three months after its dispatch date. The car is full Euro-spec with the European carburetor setup (triple SU) and the European gear ratio on the rear differential. This Jaguar E Type S2 Fixed Head Coupe has had remarkably few owners. The first owner kept the car until 1978. The second owner then had it for 12 years before selling it to the third owner in 1990. This third and final owner was a true Jaguar enthusiast, participating in all the Jaguar meetings and being an active member of the Swedish Jaguar Club. He enjoyed the car until 2018 when he sadly passed away, and the car was left standing. The Jaguar E-Type S2 FHC comes with a binder of documentation and all of its original tools. It’s a very complete car with a very honest and traceable history. If you have a classic Jaguar that you would like to sell please let us know here.
