Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August and Sunday the 30th of August at The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.

The Jaguar XJC, also known as the XJ Coupé, is a rare, two-door pillarless coupé version of the flagship Jaguar XJ Series II saloon. Produced for a brief period between 1975 and 1978, it is widely celebrated by enthusiasts as one of the most beautifully proportioned and elegant designs to leave the Coventry factory.

Powered by Jaguar's 4.2 litre straight-six twin-overhead cam XK engine, paired with Borg Warner's smooth three-speed automatic transmission, this example is classically presented in British Racing Green with a gold pinstripe, a signature black Everflex roof, and chromed steel wheels.

The well-preserved interior features upholstery in tan hide and matching vinyl, complemented by cinnamon carpets. Originally registered in May 1975, this XJC was known to our vendor before purchase, having belonged to his neighbour, the original owner, and subsequently his son, before being sold to our vendor in 2001.

It has benefited from continuous specialist care throughout current ownership by marque specialists Marcus Barclay. Recent maintenance includes a lubrication service, brake fluid change, and engine bay clean, with the most recent service carried out in April 2025.

The history file includes 33 MOT certificates dating back to 1981, along with a comprehensive run of invoices, indicating regular servicing to keep this venerable Jaguar in excellent condition.

At the time of cataloguing, the odometer displayed just 35,426 miles. Given the provenance within the history folder, the mileage may well be accurate.

Arguably the embodiment of Jaguar's motto of "Grace, Space, Pace," this cherished XJC is well worth serious consideration.
