The Jaguar XJS. A car with a monumental and almost impossible task: succeeding the E-type. The XJS clearly showed a shift in character from its predecessor. While the E-type was all about sportiness, the XJS prioritized comfort. Speed wasn’t forgotten, though; where the E-type only later got a 12-cylinder engine, the XJS was immediately equipped with the famous 5.3-liter V12 from Jaguar. The manual transmission was briefly available but soon disappeared due to the focus on luxury and comfort.
The V12 delivered 285 hp, providing impressive performance. The Jag accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and has a top speed of over 250 km/h.
Our Jaguar XJS cabriolet is an original Swiss-delivered car and has had only its third owner to date. The first cabriolets were built by an American company called Hess & Eisenhardt because Jaguar couldn’t manage to create a decent convertible themselves. Nowadays, they’ve managed it on their own!
Besides having given out few smiles per liter due to its age, it has been extensively maintained and is ready for a new adventure. A unique driver’s car that definitely deserves a place in our Cool Classics collection! Shall we see you soon?
