Conceived and built in just a few months, the XK120 made its debut at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show, where its stunning convertible look caused a stir. The XK120 set new standards of comfort, road-holding and performance for British sports cars while maintaining Jaguar tradition. Coupe and Drophead versions followed, and for customers who found the standard car too slow, there was special equipment (SE).
The XK120 was produced until 1954 and would be the most popular of the XK series with 12,078 built, including 2,194 left-hand drive SE roadsters like the one offered here.
Restored between March 2008 and July 2009, an upgraded engine with Jaguar XK140 SE specifications was fitted.
On this Jaguar we find details aplenty: twin windshields, number stickers, leather belt, quick-release fuel cap and even a flask strapped to the driver's side door!
The owner had entered this stunning XK120 SE in the 2021 Mille Miglia and it was accepted. He spent a considerable amount of money to make the car ready for the event, which he successfully completed, finishing 101st among all and first Jaguar overall-a just reward for all his efforts. This was an extremely competitive result in such an arduous event dominated by hard-to-beat Italians!
The car is complete with Belgian foreign documents and some photos taken during the 2021 Mille Miglia. This Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster is ready to continue its competitive career with a new owner.
