1958 Jaguar XK 150 Fixed Head Coupé
Fully body-off restored in the Netherlands from 2015 to 2023. Photos available. The 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine has been overhauled. The car is stunningly finished in British Racing Green paint and features wire-spoke wheels. The interior is upholstered in near-new beige leather.
It has a 4-speed transmission with overdrive and is equipped with a 1-2-3 ignition system. A new aluminum fuel tank has been installed. The vehicle comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate.
History and Documentation
The Jaguar XK 150 is a benchmark of the British automotive industry. It was one of the fastest street-legal cars of its time and also served as a comfortable touring car, especially popular in the United States. This example was built on June 25, 1958, as confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Certificate issued in 2008, and was delivered by Jaguar Cars in New York.
Originally equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission and an optional gearbox, this makes it a highly sought-after model. The car underwent a full body-off restoration from approximately 2015 to 2023, during which several technical improvements were made. It was imported into the Netherlands in 1999 and has been owned by the current owner since 2005, who owns several classic cars.
Extensive documentation accompanies the vehicle, including a detailed photo report of the restoration, dozens of invoices, and a 2023 appraisal report valuing the car at a replacement cost of €80,000. The car is fitted with a LoJack post-theft tracking system.
Exterior
During restoration, the car was completely disassembled, including removing the body from the chassis. Both were fully stripped of paint. The body was treated with cataphoresis, a high-quality anti-corrosion coating, and repainted in British Racing Green. The paintwork is in good condition with no damage. Weld seams have been finished with red lead. The chassis and underside have also been treated.
New stainless steel bumpers have been installed at the front and rear. The wire-spoke wheels are in excellent condition and fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, which are also in good condition. The front lighting, manufactured by Lucas, is in good condition.
Interior
The interior has been restored using high-quality parts from BAS Jaguar Trim Specialist. It features beige leather upholstery on the seats, door panels, and dashboard, all in good condition. The dashboard is finished with inlaid walnut wood. The large steering wheel is positioned almost vertically. Instruments by Smiths are in good condition.
The interior includes a Bluetooth radio with a classic look and a USB/USB-C port. The rear seats are in good condition, as is the headliner. The trunk is neat and houses the spare tire and a jack.
Technical
The XK 150 was one of the first mass-produced cars to come standard with disc brakes on all four wheels. It is powered by a 3,442 cc inline-6 engine with twin SU carburetors, producing 190 horsepower. The engine has been overhauled with new pistons and piston rings, and the timing chains have been replaced.
Several technical improvements have been made, including a tappet hold-down set, a modern crankshaft seal conversion kit, a 1-2-3 ignition system, a new aluminum fuel tank, a new wiring harness, and new brake cylinders and brake lines filled with DOT 5 brake fluid. The car sounds fantastic and runs smoothly.
