The E-Type Series 3 was introduced in 1971 as the final evolution of the E-Type. To accommodate the 5.3-liter V12 engine, Jaguar used the longer wheelbase of the earlier 2+2 model. The track width increased, the wheel wells were widened, and a distinctive lattice-pattern grille appeared at the front.
This elegant sports car from 1961 had come of age, but it certainly didn’t become boring. Under the long hood lies the Jaguar V12—an engine that doesn’t need to deliver its power in a hurry and doesn’t feel the need to prove how sporty it is at every RPM. You let the clutch come up, step on the gas, and immediately feel just how much power is available. Many Series 3 E-Types were delivered with an automatic transmission, which suited the V12’s relaxed character perfectly.
However, this particular example combines the twelve-cylinder engine with a manual transmission, which is especially exciting. You get the smooth character of the big engine along with the control to decide when to rev higher. A V12 with a freer exhaust system can sound almost terrifyingly good—deep and rich in tone, not polite or modest.

The Jaguar is in well-maintained and original condition. Some parts of the body still have their original paint, and the car has not been restored to erase its history.
