The Jaguar XK 140 was unveiled by Jaguar cars in 1954 at London motor show. This new model was an improved and modernized version of the previously successful Jaguar XK120. The XK140, whilst retaining the 3.4L 6-cylinder engine from its predecessor was offered with two engine specifications of different power. The original engine had an output of 190 horsepower whilst the MC (USA) and the SE (UK) version, featured a C-Type cylinder head, delivering a much improved 210 horsepower. The C type cylinder head having been developed for the C type racing Jaguar of Le Mans fame.
As a result the XK140 reclaimed the prestigious title of the 'Fastest production car of its time', following again in the footsteps of its predecessor, the XK120.Enhancements were made to the suspension, steering, and braking systems, while interior space received an increase, leading to improved seating positions for both driver and passenger.
