Description

The Jaguar XK120 was an immediate success during its introduction. The model was immediately characterized as a sporty Jaguar with a low and beautifully designed body, and also benefited from a newly designed six-cylinder engine with double overhead camshafts, which could deliver tremendous power and even served as ‘the flagship engine’ of Jaguar until the 1990s! Did you know that the model's name comes from a 1949 speed record, when a roadster on the Jabbeke Highway in Belgiumë was clocked at over 120 mph? In 1955, Jaguar modified the chassis with larger torsion bars and rack and pinion steering. The engine received different camshafts, increasing power to 190 hp. The car was named the XK140, and an XK140 MC variant with the cylinder head from the C-Type Jaguar, increased power to an impressive 210 hp!The last version of the original XK series arrived in 1958 as the XK150.The car changed significantly in terms of styling and now had a higher waistline, with virtually no notch for the rear fenders. The windshield was één curved whole and the grille was widened. Next, Jaguar introduced the XK150 S, with an engine upgraded to 250 horsepower. In mid-1961, the all-new E-Type was introduced, and the XK150 quietly disappeared from view. Our example was built by Jaguar on August 11, 1958, and was delivered to New York on December 17 of the same year. This car is a beautiful appearance in the ‘period correct’ red with beige leather upholstery. After several years of driving around the United States, this Jaguar came into the hands of a Frenchman, who brought the car to Europe. This example then underwent a complete restoration and overhaul, and the car received some modifications to the braking system and suspension. Since then the car not only looks very nice, but because of the modifications it drives very well and is an excellent choice for longer tours, for example. The exterior has a nice soft-top and both the paint and chrome work are in clean condition. In addition, the wire wheels look great! The body has nice fits and the whole makes a well-groomed impression. In the interior we find beautiful leather upholstery in beige and this looks nicely cared for, including the dashboard, the carpets and the beautiful classic steering wheel. Authentic details in the interior were preserved during the restoration work. Driving this Jaguar is pure pleasure! By the restoration work, including modifications, and the necessary care that took place, driving can be called downright great. Are you interested in this beautiful Jaguar XK150?
