1932 2 Litre Lagonda Low Chassis Continental TourerChassis number: OH10149Registration number: YY1778Engine number: OHL1209Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1932 2 Litre Low Chassis Continental Tourer for sale. The final iteration of the much vaunted 2-Litre Lagonda was the Continental of which just twenty three examples are understood to have been made between April and July of 1932.Though production was split 50/50 between Saloons and Tourers, the Lagonda Club is only aware of seven Tourers still in existence today, making them a very rare model indeed. The Continental Tourer is distinctive and easy to recognise from its sloped back radiator profile. This Continental was first registered on October 25th 1932. It is arguably best known in Lagonda circles from its lengthy period in the hands of the Gostling family. It was purchased by Harry in 1946 who retained it until his death, whereupon ownership passed to his brother Ian Gostling. Both men competed with the Continental Tourer during their tenure and the history file contains photos of Harry pressing on at both Silverstone and Brands Hatch. The Continental Tourer (YY 1787) appears to have been treated to various upgrades during the Gostlings' ownership which included larger brake drums, a bigger capacity oil pump and the downdraught cylinder head which was installed by ‘Wessex Workshops’ in 1996. The Lagonda appeared in an article entitled 'used cars of the road' that was published in the Autocar issue of June 24th 1953. The writer noted that 'the handling of the car was one of its good features'.The Lagonda was finally wrested from the Gostling family in July 1997 when it became the property of Gordon Colin Oliver. Subsequent owners include David Rose and Peter Zaslawsky with the latter vendor acquiring 'YY 1778' during December 2009. Under his care, the bonnet and wheels have been refurbished with five new tyres and inner tubes having been fitted. The black bodywork and maroon leather interior trim are in perfect order having been recently re-finished to new standards. The engine is likewise in excellent order with the electrical wiring looking like new. A brand new Mohair hood has also been fitted. Twin button together tonneau covers also come with the Continental Tourer as does a full complement of side screens. The spare wheel is rear mounted. The Continental Tourer comes with an assortment of old invoices for work carried out and correspondence dating back many years even as far as 1948. It is a fast car due to the light body engine upgrades being able to hold its own in modern traffic conditions. Well suited to rallies and, as its name suggests, continental touring. There is also a period picture of it in the 1950's passing a 3.5 litre saloon on a race track. By coincidence we also have the 3.5 litre car in stock!!!Office 01375 379719Richard Biddulph 07967 260673Christoff Cowens 07772188037We accept Credit/Debit Cards.Part Exchange welcome.Weekend & evening viewings OK.Viewings by appointment :Prestige House.9 Globe Industrial Estate,Grays, Essex, RM17 6ST
