In the 1970s, Maserati was part of Citroën, resulting in a period of technological cooperation and shared development between the two companies. This cooperation resulted in some innovative models such as the Maserati Bora and Merak, which used the legendary hydraulic technology of the Citroën. However, the financialën crisis at Citroën in the mid-1970s led to the sale of Maserati to Argentine automaker Alessandro De Tomaso. And so not long after, the Maserati Kyalami appeared. Under the skin, it was a revised version of the De Tomaso Longchamp, equipped with a 4.1 or 4.9-liter Maserati eight-cylinder engine instead of the Ford engine. With the larger V8 engine, the Kyalami was a true 150 mph car. Taking a look at the bodywork, it must be admitted that this Pietro Frua could draw. The overall technical condition of the car cannot but be called very good. The engine runs beautifully, has wonderful pulling power and the transmission shifts precisely.
