Description

Maserati Mistral Coupé 4 liter from 1966 Injection by carrozzeria Frua, “Matching Number” and since 42 years in current hands!

Chassisnumber: AM109/ A1/ 724

•One of only 454 Mistral 4000 coupés produced
•Ultimate and most desirable 4. 0-litre engine
•Aluminum coachwork, ZF S5/ 20 five-speed manual gearbox
•Matching numbers
•Sympathetically restored in the 1990s
•Recent engine overhaul

A desirable five-speed manual transmission model, this particular Mistral 4-litre was produced on 9th May 1966 and left the factory bound for Verona, Italy. The original colour scheme was Argento Auteuil (silver) with blue leather interior. It is equipped with Lucas fuel injection, 5 speed manual ZFS5/ 20 gearbox, disc brakes and lovely Borrani rims (including Borrani spare wheel).

This Mistral was purchased by the current owner in 1982 from a German gentleman, Hans Haemer, who is believed to be the second owner. Mr Haemer had changed the colour to light blue metallic, finding it more appropriate. The current owner changed it to dark blue metallic. The original light blue interior is still present and has a delightful patina. The Maserati was completely restored in the 1990s and, as one would expect of an older restoration, the paintwork is now showing some signs of age. As the French say, this Maserati is presented “dans son jus”.

The chrome trim is in general good condition. The front bumper has some chips of chrome missing. This is certainly not a “concours car” but a lovely daily driver that can be enjoyed. An ideal partner for classic rallies.

The original matching-numbers engine has been recently and partly revised (revision of the cylinder head, replacement of valves and springs, new head gasket). New fuel injectors were fitted to the original Lucas fuel injection system, which is said to have been adjusted and to work very well. The original ZF five-speed gearbox likewise is also working very well. Adjustable shock absorbers have been fitted to greater ride comfort.

A real driver's car, ideal for classic tours or holiday driving, this exotic Mistral 4000 is offered with sundry parts invoices and Netherlands registration papers.
The very enthusiastic car family who has owned it for all these years is now looking for another passionist who treasures her with same love and passion.
The vehicle is registered in the Netherlands on Dutch number plates. The car can be seen and inspected any time by appointment in Belgium.
