Looks almost like a brand-new car. Fully restored in 2015 at a cost exceeding €200,000. Since the restoration, the odometer shows only around 2,000 km of careful use.
We purchased the car at the Essen exhibition from one of Europe’s leading restoration companies. It has Swedish registration, with the latest road-safety inspection approved in September 2024.
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was introduced alongside its more famous sister, the 300 SL, at the 1954 New York Auto Show. While the 300 SL was a race-bred sports car, the 190 SL was developed on a shortened W120/W121 chassis and aimed at buyers seeking a refined, reliable, and comfortable grand-touring experience. It offered style and usability that many British and Italian competitors could not match, despite often higher performance.
The 190 SL set the tone for the SL class that followed, combining elegance, engineering quality, and everyday usability. Often described as the “little brother” of the legendary 300 SL, it has become a highly desirable classic in its own right. This example is undoubtedly one of the finest in Sweden, featuring an exceptionally elegant and timeless color combination.
