The Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Cabriolet is regarded as one of the most elegant and appreciated luxury convertibles of the 1960s and 1970s. This example underwent a professional restoration and is presented in a stylish green-beige configuration with a well-kept interior and a soft top in good condition. The W111 Cabriolet is known for its refined build quality, timeless appearance, and comfortable driving characteristics.
This example belongs to the rare Flachkühler version. This variant features a lower and flatter radiator and grille assembly compared with earlier Hochkühler cars, giving it a sleeker and more elegant profile. The Flachkühler was produced for only a short period, making it considerably rarer and highly desirable among enthusiasts. Only just over 1,000 examples were built in this configuration, further increasing its collectability. Depending on the specification and production year, W111 models could be equipped with automatic transmissions, manual 4-speed gearboxes, and gearshifts mounted on the steering column or on the floor.

Bodywork and paint present well; it has been repainted with normal signs of use and slight paint reaction between the rear wing and boot panel.

The soft top is in good condition; interior was restored but shows signs of use, with worn carpets.

Engine bay is clean and honest; older restoration.
Engine runs well but has an older restoration; automatic choke/idle device runs permanently, causing idle to be too high.
Fluids are at correct levels and well maintained.
Transmission functions correctly.
Brakes are functioning properly.
Handbrake requires adjustment; left side is less effective.
Electrics such as horn, wipers, heater, and dashboard operate correctly.
Lighting: flash function and high beams are not working; front fog lights function as high beams.
Suspension and axles need repair; play detected in left and right front kingpins and right rear wheel bearing.
