Vehicle history:

Following management decisions dated August 17 and November 2, 1948, respectively, the decision was made to build this vehicle. This is one of the first vehicles of this model to be produced at the factory. In 1949, this car was the show car at the Paris Motor Show. There are numerous photos of the vehicle at the exhibition booth. Shortly thereafter, this 170 S was displayed in Copenhagen at the Autoropa Copenhagen.
This car is featured in the automotive magazine “Das Auto,” issue 21/1994. The Mercedes was registered on September 24, 1949, under the name Mercedes-Benz. After the auto shows, the car was sold to the Dornas Film Company in Munich-Geiselgasteig. Numerous documents attest to the vehicle’s unique history. In May 1957, the car arrived in Vienna. The original individual registration certificate, including evidence of several changes in ownership, is available. Years later, the car returned to Germany. It was restored here and has now been in the current owner’s possession for 11 years. The accompanying documents also include an original Basich luggage set consisting of three suitcases.
