Description

The Mercedes-Benz 300SE Coupe is one of the finest cars ever produced by the Stuttgart outfit

Sharing her engine with the legendary 300SL Gullwing she produced a healthy 180bhp, slightly detuned from what was found in the SL to produce a more comfortable Grand Touring Coupe

In every sense she is very much a Grand Tourer built for comfort with beautiful supple hides & wood veneers made all the more enjoyable by her exclusive air suspension that was reserved for only the very best cars Mercedes had to offer

They are extremely rare cars of course with only 270 produced in RHD mostly thanks to being so expensive, in today's money a new one with the specification of ours would cost c.£250,000

The car we have here is one of, if not the, very best examples of a W112 300SE Coupe in the world

With only 4 keepers from new she has a extensive service history and is a car very well known within Mercedes-Benz circles

The most notable of the keepers was a Mr Melvyn Meloy who was in charge of the W112 section of the Mercedes-Benz Owners Club and kept her for nearly 30 years before the most recent owner bought her in 2016

It is clear from whats on file that everything that ever needed doing was done was and costs were always a secondary consideration to making sure she was perfect, that becomes even clearer when inspecting the car and driving her for she is just perfect on the road

Her most recent keeper has kept on in that form of proper maintenance with the most recent service work being carried out in November 2021 at which point the fuel lines were replaced (helpful now with the E5 fuel) as well as new plugs etc. He also made the very wise addition of inertia reel seat belts fitted in such a way they look as though they are from the factory

Her paint is very nearly perfect, I can make out only the most minor imperfection to the bottom of the boot lid, she was last stripped down and re-painted in 2004 under the guidance of Mr Meloy so its unsurprising that the quality has lasted so well

The interior is also like brand new and again gives credence to just how well she has been kept her whole life

Mechanically she is on the button and lives up to the highest of standards possible to be set by three pointed star

Overall we're sure that a better example could scarcely be found of what is a fabulous motorcar
