Where there's demand, supply will sooner or later follow.
One of the fundamental laws of business also applied to the Mercedes W126.
Although the manufacturer offered both a classic limousine and a two-door coupé, the market demanded more extravagance.
Thus, more than a dozen manufacturers, primarily located in the United States and Europe, offered conversions from the coupé (SEC) model to a convertible.
One of these was Gerhard Bähr's workshop in Hagen, Germany.
He presented his own concept for converting an exclusive Mercedes.
In addition to his own roof structure, the car received essential body reinforcements and a redesigned tailgate, which allowed for space to conceal the folded roof behind the seats.
Over the course of more than a decade, several dozen examples of the converted C126 model left the Hagen plant.
Meet one of them.
The presented car came to Poland from Denmark to join a private collection of classic Mercedes models.
During its nearly ten-year stay, it was maintained in well condition and serviced at an authorized dealership of the Mercedes brand.
Although the car was not used for a long period, it remains in excellent condition.
The engine runs smoothly, dynamically accelerating the over-1.5-ton convertible.
The four-speed automatic transmission, which tends to jerk over time, operates smoothly and without any problems in this Mercedes.
As does the structure of the manual folding top.
While its upholstery has held up well over the years, it has two small perforations, but the leather cover covering the folded top remains in almost perfect condition.
The car's paintwork is also in good condition, with only a chip on the front of the engine hood.
The car is registered and insured in Poland, and it has a current MOT.
Features includes:
– air conditioning
– cruise control
– electric windows
– electric mirrors
– electric front seat adjustment with memory function
– heated front seats
– leather upholstery
– original 18-inch Mercedes rims
– ABS
– power steering
– central locking
– Blaupunkt radio
It's a car for the individualist seeking an unusual, reliable convertible.
Production volumes of several dozen units make it difficult to find a second one at a rally or in traffic.
It combines all the advantages of the Mercedes C126 with the ability to enjoy an open roof,
and the even more distinct sound of the five-liter V8 engine.
It's worth noting that this is a convertible with four fully functional seats.
