Description

The Mercedes-Benz SL of the R129 generation debuted in the late 1980s and set the standard for a whole new generation of roadsters. It was sleeker, more modern, and technically more advanced than its predecessor. The automatic convertible top, the integrated seat belts, and the automatically deploying roll bar were particularly cutting-edge at the time, but fortunately, the car continued to excel at what an SL is supposed to do best: covering long distances in comfort and relaxation. This 1992 300 SL-24 is also equipped with one of the most enjoyable engines in the lineup. The 3.0-liter 24-valve six-cylinder engine delivers 231 pk and clearly has more to offer at higher RPMs. Combined with the optional manual transmission, this gives the car a surprisingly spirited side. You can cruise along comfortably in it, but if you want, it really invites you to take the wheel yourself. And then there’s that color. Malachite Green with Fir Green leather. Is this one of the most beautiful color combinations an R129 could be delivered in? We’ll leave that up to you, but as far as we’re concerned, it doesn’t get much more stylish than this. Especially in this early two-tone version, the car has exactly that typical ’90s look that’s hugely appreciated again these days. What’s more, this example still features its original paint and was clearly maintained with great care by the previous owner. With just 35,000 kilometers on the odometer, it’s in exceptionally fine condition. The bodywork looks sleek and well-maintained, the interior is remarkably fresh, and while driving, the car feels exactly as you’d hope an R129 with low mileage would: solid, refined, and superbly built. This 300 SL-24 is also interesting in terms of its features. In addition to the manual transmission, the car features a rear bench seat and various other options that make the configuration just that little bit more special. It’s precisely those kinds of details that ensure you’re not looking at just any SL, but at an example that has clearly been put together with great care. This isn’t a car that tries to be sportier, more luxurious, or more modern than it actually is. It’s simply an exceptionally well-preserved R129 with a fantastic engine, a rare color combination, and a configuration that sets it apart from the rest.35,000 kilometers, manual transmission, and Malachite Green over Fir Green. For us, that’s more than enough green for the future. Are you interested? Contact Gallery Aaldering today and discover this Mercedes-Benz in this stunning color scheme for yourself.
