A Mercedes-Benz SL from the 1980s is a delightful classic that offers the right combination of elegance, luxury, comfort and solidity. At the time of writing, it is 27 degrees outside and this beautiful SL is staring at us in the showroom. All we want to do is get in and go for a drive. This car really invites itself to do that! Moreover, this is one of the best examples we currently have in our stock, because this SL has an unparalleled maintenance history, more on that later. The engineers at Mercedes-Benz faced a difficult task. Why? When you have a success number in your model range, how do you go about shaping a successor? The Mercedes-Benz Pagoda W113 is still a very sought-after Mercedes today, which offered some key combinations of high comfort, solid and robust construction, and an elegant body with which to look stylish. That is and was the formula for success then. The question now is: did the engineers manage to surpass this success? The answer, in our opinion, is resoundingly, yes! The R107 was completely new and once again defined the sporty and luxurious class. With an even wider range of engines, which were also even smoother to drive and which had already proven themselves, Mercedes once again had a formula for success in its hands. Passive safety was a major improvement with the R107 and, for example, the fuel tank was mounted in front of the rear axle, providing significantly safer situations in the event of a collision. Our example is a fantastic example of how a Mercedes R107 should be. The color, despite being subjective, complements the car superbly and emphasizes the elegance of the model. We'll tell you the good news right away: this particular example had over 35,000 euros invested in it over the last five years! All bills of this are present, with a focus on original Mercedes-Benz parts. A small selection of what has been replaced: shock absorbers, all rubbers and ball joints of the chassis, water pump, soft top, steering box revision, wheel bearings all around, all injectors, heater motor, complete stainless steel exhaust, and so on. It therefore needs no further explanation that this 380 SL is technically in excellent condition. The bodywork is in very good condition. Due to cosmetic reasons, the car was repainted and the car looks great. For example, the rubber parts were replaced, so the whole thing is really in good condition, giving this Mercedes an unprecedented quality. The fits of the various body parts are very good and windows, bumpers and rims are in almost perfect condition. In the interior we find high-quality leather upholstery and carpets in new condition. This is not surprising, since recently these parts were all replaced. Driving this Mercedes provides us with two things: we go back to 1982 and experience how a Mercedes SL is supposed to drive. On the other hand, we imagine ourselves on a boulevard in the sun with a lovely breeze. This one drives, as it should, without concessions and makes the engine run great. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the high quality of this specimen makes this one of the best on the market. Are you interested in this beautiful Mercedes-Benz 380 SL?
