The coupé version 350 SLC was introduced in October 1971, six months after its open sister model. The car replaced the two-door version of the W111. Development followed the sister model, with the addition of the 450 SLC 5.0. This lightened sports version was produced to face competition from the Porsche 928. Production of the C107 ceased in September 1981 after 62,888 cars had been produced.
