Description

Green on the outside. Green on the inside. This 1976 Mercedes-Benz 280 SLC is finished in Cypress Green, paired with a green leather interior. Not a common color combination like silver with black leather, nor a scheme intended to appeal to everyone. This was a deliberate choice, and it suits the car perfectly.

The SLC was introduced as a closed-top coupe alongside the well-known SL Roadster. At first glance, the two look very similar, but Mercedes-Benz made significant differences beyond just adding a hardtop to the SL. The wheelbase was extended by 36 centimeters, creating space for proper rear seats. This allowed the SLC to evolve into a true four-seat grand tourer, built for long-distance comfort.

The SLC held a unique position within the Mercedes lineup. It was the first and only time the brand developed a large luxury coupe based on an extended SL platform, making it both technically and historically significant.

Its long doors, wide side windows, and distinctive slats next to the rear window give the SLC an instantly recognizable profile. The slats were not just a design feature; they helped elegantly integrate the large side window with the body.

Under the hood lies a 2.8-liter six-cylinder engine from Mercedes-Benz. It’s a smooth, powerful engine that perfectly matches the character of the SLC. Designed for miles of comfortable driving, it offers a tranquil driving experience that only a Mercedes can provide.

This particular example was originally delivered in Germany and has been carefully documented. Its history shows that it was restored while preserving original details, which is highly desirable. The Mercedes is in very good, well-maintained condition and comes with the original manuals.

The exterior features a beautiful paint job with a stunning shine. The body panels fit perfectly, and the original wheels are in good condition. The interior is well-maintained with authentic details.

A 1976 Mercedes-Benz 280 SLC, finished in Cypress Green with green leather, originally delivered in Germany and carefully restored to its original specifications. All green. All ’70s. We are genuinely in love with it—take a look at the photos and you’ll probably understand why.
