The Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen from the W460 series is the first civilian model after the car was initially developed as a military vehicle. The W460 entered the market in 1979 and ushered in a long period of luxury off-road vehicles in which the model became known as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Its spartan origins can still be recognized in this W460, but it is also clearly visible that with the Geländewagen, Mercedes-Benz had embarked on the path of very luxurious SUV’s. The Geländewagen has permanent all-wheel drive with a engageable limited-slip differential that allows the car to handle the toughest off-road conditions without any problems.The Mercedes-Benz 280 GE Lang is the six-door version with two transverse seats in the rear. The “Lang”-version has two rear doors and seats as many as 9 people. Inherently, when the seats are folded away there is a sea of luggage space.The 280 GE has a the 2746 cc six-cylinder inline engine mated to an automatic transmission. The engine with its 157 hp guarantees an effortless drive in every imaginable terrain. The 280 GE Lang was delivered new in 1981 in southern Germany and was imported into the Netherlands in 2011. The car is in good original condition.
