The Grand Marquis is a full-size luxury rear-wheel-drive passenger car produced by Mercury from 1983 to 2011
The name " Grand Marquis " was introduced in 1975 as a top-of-the-line Mercury Marquis trim In 1983 the Grand Marquis became a model in its own right. The car was essentially the Mercury sister model of the Ford Crown Victoria . After the Crown Victoria was discontinued , the Grand Marquis became the model positioned at the base of Ford's offering of cars built on the Panther platform. The Grand Marquis had a separate chassis and front-mounted engine .With the discontinuation of the Mercury brand, production ended in October 2010
