1957 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser
Very rare car in the UK, only 4/5 registered. Powered by it's original 368 engine which includes receipts for a full rebuild before it came over from the US. Runs super smooth.
Power goes through the original push button Merc-O-Matic 3 speed automatic gearbox. Drives very smoothly through all gears. Power steering so extremely easy to steer and it has been upgraded to dual circuit power brakes. Wipers have been converted to an electric motor so much more reliable than the original vacuum. Brand new cross-ply tires have covered around 500 miles.
The interior is about as 50s as it gets, recovered so no wear or tears, but in the factory pattern. Features a Bluetooth stereo hidden in the glovebox, but the original radio is there if you wanted to hook it back up. Has the optional D steering wheel which gets loads of compliments.
Features "Breezeway" system which includes air vents above the windscreen and an electric retractable rear window to encourage air flow through the car as well as full pillar less windows. Unreal to drive in the recent hot weather!
Lots of history with the car such as old receipts for the engine rebuild, previous works, triple chrome plating on the bumpers and many dealership brochures. Also have the original mercury workshop manual. Some spares with the car such as spare hubcaps, trim and the original wing mirror.
Starts on the button (literally) and I've driven it around 500 miles in the last month without any issues. Extremely comfortable cruiser. If you want a car that'll stop a street dead in its tracks and have everyone taking photos, this is the car for you! Recently had it at Dragstalgia at Santa Pod and I don't think there was a second of the day where someone wasn't looking around it.
Ideal opportunity to add it to a wedding car fleet as it's probably one of my most requested things and I have done a couple in it and it's always well received. Won a trophy at The Driver's Collection car show last year and it's due to be magazine featured next month.
Genuinely will be gutted to let this car go, but with other projects I require the space back.
Happy to help with shipping worldwide.
Would consider a PX with cash my way for another classic.
