Description

The MG B was introduced in 1962 as the successor to the MGA. It was developed as a compact sports car with a monocoque body, featuring a more modern design than its predecessor and meeting the demand for affordable sports cars. The MG B was available as a two-seater convertible and later as the MG B GT coupe, with the fastback design by Pininfarina giving the model a different character than the roadster.

The MG B GT coupe was introduced in 1965, offering more interior space and a practical rear hatch design without deviating from the technical foundation of the MG B. The car remained in production until the late 1970s, becoming one of the best-known British sports coupes of that period. Built in large numbers, it became one of MG’s most recognizable models, partly due to its long production run and widespread export.

By the 1978 model year, the MG B GT coupe had entered the final phase of production. It was regarded as an established classic within the segment of compact British sports cars. Its combination of existing technology, coupe body style, and distinctive design made the MG B GT coupe a staple of MG’s history.

This MG B GT coupe is equipped with an overdrive transmission, which was often used to reduce engine RPM at higher speeds, improving long-distance driving. The car features a popular Webasto sunroof, adding extra light and ventilation without significantly altering the body line. The exterior shows a few imperfections, and the interior exhibits typical signs of wear and tear for its age. This MG B GT coupe reflects the signs of use and age common in models from this period.

The car combines the engineering of a compact sports car with a closed body and the practical rear end of the GT version. This made the model more versatile than the open-top MG B while retaining its character as a classic British sports coupe.

This 1978 MG B GT coupe represents the later production years of one of MG’s most famous models. It is equipped with an overdrive transmission and a Webasto sunroof. The exterior has imperfections, and the interior shows typical signs of wear consistent with its age. We recommend attending the viewing day to get a good impression of the vehicle.
