Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at CarFest 2026 on Saturday the 29th of August and Sunday the 30th of August at The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.

Fresh to market following eight years of careful ownership, the car is in impressive condition throughout. Built at Abingdon in 1978 as a left-hand drive Roadster, it is believed to have served as an MG factory development car before leaving the factory in 1980 as a fully converted right-hand drive example to desirable LE specification.

Previously owned by Chris Peacock, the final Works Manager at the Abingdon factory, adding genuine factory provenance to its history. After spending approximately 23 years off the road, the car was rescued and comprehensively restored. The rebuild was supported by extensive photographs, invoices, and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate.

Restoration included replacement wings, inner and outer sills, floor sections, scuttle, door skins, boot lid, and fuel tank. The car also features uprated suspension, overhauled brakes, and new carpets.

It has been refinished in attractive Tartan Red and enhanced with a chrome bumper conversion, lightweight MGC bonnet, MGC front valance, modified grille, Sebring rear valance, and Rostyle wheels, giving it a purposeful period appearance.

Powered by the proven 1798cc B-Series engine with a desirable overdrive transmission, it offers the engaging driving experience for which the MGB Roadster is well regarded.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented MGB combining factory heritage, notable provenance, and tasteful upgrades. Early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the quality and opportunity on offer.
