The MG TD is not only a particularly stylish and stunning classic to look at, but also a joy to drive. Like virtually all MGs, the TD is a very user-friendly classic car. As the successor to the MG TC, the TD entered the market in 1950 and was produced until 1953. This magnificent MG TD, produced in 1952, was originally delivered to the United States and arrived in the Netherlands in the 1990s. In the Netherlands, the car has had only two owners, and the first owner had this MG TD fully restored very thoroughly and professionally. During this restoration, the original engine block and gearbox were also completely overhauled. Consequently, this MG TD is still fully ‘matching numbers’. He subsequently owned the car for approximately 26 years and maintained it with great love and care. This is visible not only from the many maintenance invoices, but especially in the car itself.
This magnificent MG TD is still in particularly beautiful condition. The beautiful MG Red body color is not only perfect for this stylish roadster, but it also still retains a deep shine and is in very good condition. The various chrome and trim parts are also still shiny and in very good condition. This also applies to the various rubber parts and finishes. The chrome wire wheels are stunning to look at and suit this MG TD perfectly. This also applies to the stylish chrome luggage rack, the front badge bar, and the extra spotlights at the front. These extras make the car just that little bit more special. The black convertible top and the side panels have been used very little and are in very good (almost new) condition. A tonneau cover is also included with the car, likewise in very good condition.
The black leather interior forms a perfect combination with the red body color and is in very good condition. The seats are exceptionally comfortable and are in perfect condition. This also applies to the black interior upholstery. The dashboard is not only stunning to look at, but is also in particularly good condition, and all instruments work properly. The beautiful large steering wheel is light in color and fits perfectly with this interior. The various chrome and trim parts in the interior are also still shiny and in good condition. For extra comfort, this car is also equipped with two small wind deflector windows mounted on the windshield.
Under the hood lies the well-known 1250cc XPAG engine block, which was completely overhauled during the restoration in the 1990s. It is clearly evident that all the mechanics have been very well maintained. The engine runs particularly smoothly and quietly and has sufficient power for comfortable and relaxed touring. The car shifts and steers exceptionally smoothly, and the brakes also feel firm and good. This MG TD is a stylish and magnificent roadster with true classic lines, which makes this car particularly attractive.
