1939 Packard 12 Touring Sedan
Vehicle Number: 1235-2014
Manufactured: 1-3-1939

This luxurious touring sedan sold new for $485. 00. Only 446 Packard V-12's were built in 1939. All of the V-12's were built on a per-order basis. none left the plant unsold. The 1708 series V-12 Packard had a 139 inch wheelbase. 1939 introduced a transmission refinement to column shift versus the original floor shift of prior years.
This car emerged from a meticulous 10 year restoration by renowned marque specialists West Hoathley Garage whom are the UK's pre eminent Packard specialists.
The results are stunning. Around £220k having been spent. the car is as close to perfection as you may find. It has covered a scant 1500 running in miles since returning to the road & needs another 500 or so to complete the running in process.
To the exterior the car is covered in flawless bordeaux red metallic paint. To the interior is sumptuous west of England cloth to the rear with a deep purple hide to the front. Every interior appointment has been removed & renovated to as new. The twin occasional seats are also in cloth.
Under the bonnet is where it gets really interesting. The V12 engine is imperceptible in its running & as smooth as any V12 I have experienced. Mated to a three speed column change 'box. the car is effortless to drive & wafts one down the road. It pulls away in top gear seamlessly from any speed with not a hint of vibration. It is also, despite its huge size very easy to drive & endowed with a serious turn of speed allied to light steering & powerful brakes.
The whole car is of a quality we rarely see with perfection having been aimed for & achieved. You simply have to see, sit in, & drive it to appreciate how fine it is. We know this car well having sold it previously & can attest to its amazing condition & quality.
