Over 8 years of production, the car sold over 2.8 million copies. From the very beginning, the car was offered in a 3- and 5-door version. 60% of the 306s sold are the hatchback version.
Customers appreciated mainly the sensational suspension. The torsion beam design is not complicated, and the selection of springs and shock absorbers cleverly complements the car's decent feel when cornering.
The car, 4030 mm long, has a trunk with a capacity of 338 liters of luggage, which even today could be considered a competitive result.
Despite the modern line, the car was modernized in the spring of 1997. The front grille with a narrow air intake and enlarged logo has changed, and the headlights have become more slanted.
The rear has a complex set of lamps.
In 1994, the 306 S16 went on sale with a 2-liter engine with almost 160 hp, which accelerated the compact car to a hundred in less than 9 seconds.
This model was used to build a rally version of the car, from which the top variant 306 was created, designed to overcome rally stages - 306 Maxi.
