Description

The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am debuted in 1969 as the top-of-the-line model within General Motors’ Firebird lineup. Pontiac positioned the Firebird as a sister model to the Chevrolet Camaro, with its own distinct look and a stronger emphasis on performance and style. The Trans Am model was named after the Trans-Am racing series and became the best-known variant of the Firebird. In the 1970s, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am evolved into an iconic model within American muscle car culture.

The 1977 model year falls within the second generation of the Firebird, which ran from 1970 through 1981. Over this period, the body became more streamlined, featuring an integrated front spoiler and a wide hood with an air intake design. The 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is known for its distinctive design, which carved out a clear niche in the market compared to other American coupes of the same era. During these years, the Trans Am was often equipped with striking decorative and aerodynamic elements that set it apart from the standard Firebird.

This model gained widespread recognition in the 1970s and achieved strong sales figures for Pontiac. It reflects the technical and market developments of that era, combining large V8 engines, automatic transmissions, and comfortable grand-touring characteristics. This combination made the Firebird Trans Am a staple in the American performance coupe segment.

This 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is equipped with a 6,600 cc V8 engine producing 330 horsepower and 235 Nm of torque. It features a 3-speed automatic transmission. These specifications highlight the character of American performance cars from this period, where engine displacement and smooth power delivery were prioritized over high RPMs or a compact design.

The car is in running condition. The interior and exterior have a few imperfections. Photos of the undercarriage show it to be in good condition.
