Survivor Classic Car Services Chicago is proud to present this clean 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J. Under the hood is a replacement 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 sourced from a Catalina (engine code YC) with '67 061 heads. The entire engine was rebuilt, including stripping, magnafluxing, machining, and balancing. It is set up to run cleanly to 6200 RPM. A set of .030" over Speed Pro forged pistons bring the compression ratio to 10.5:1. A Lunati cam provides the classic muscle car "lope" expected from a hot rod.
The cast iron engine breathes through a Holley 650 CFM Brawler carburetor and out via Holley Flowtech headers and a 2.5" Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system. Power is transmitted through a Hughes Performance 2500 RPM stall converter into a TH350 transmission with a Hughes MC34-1 build. The drivetrain is supported by a 12-bolt posi rear axle with 3.55 gears, packed by JD Performance. UMI tubular rear control arms keep the BFG Radial TA tires planted.
This clean Grand Prix has received a healthy boost of horsepower and retains plenty of style. With an underside as clean as the top and approximately 1,200 miles since the build, this Pontiac offers a great driving experience.
