MODEL HISTORY
The exceptionally beautiful creation of Ferdinand Porsche is one of the most iconic and beloved classics on earth in the Cabriolet version. This Cabriolet comes from the improved C-series of the Porsche 356. As a logical successor to the B-series, the car underwent a number of optical and technical improvements and changes that were mainly prompted by safety requirements from America. At the same time, the car was also technically modified, which noticeably improved the handling. In the C version, the car received 75 hp, in combination with the low car weight, this made the 356 a wonderfully smooth and fast sports car. Disc brakes were also fitted, for example, all around. Visually pleasing to the eye, technically progressive and very reliable. Even today, the appeal of a 356 wins over any exotic sports car. The construction method of the time, consisting of welded and tin-plated sheet metal parts that were only sprayed in color and therefore left the factory more or less unprotected, makes a rust-free and well-restored 356 difficult to find. The example offered here came to the Netherlands in 1996. She came into the hands of the only Dutch owner who knew the car to date. The now 80-year-old owner, ex. flight engineer on the Boeing 747, restored the body in the 1990s together with his friend Theo Siemerink in IJmuiden, now a highly regarded 356 specialist. Thanks to this professional restoration, the car is rock solid and still rust free. As an enthusiastic 356 club member, many (foreign) tours were undertaken with this convertible. It can be guessed that the technique was always kept in top condition down to the last detail by the technically very gifted owner. He only helped fellow club members get back on the road along the way. This 356, sold new in California, has always been treated by the owner as a real driver's car, reliability and a healthy body were central. The owner, meanwhile, finds that a car in concours condition offers less atmosphere than a 'beautifully aged and visibly used 356', exactly as it is now. Although this 356 is now physically the boss, hence the request to sell the car with a heavy heart through our mediation. Given the great condition of the bodywork, the overhauled engine and driving characteristics, she is for sale at a very reasonable price for those who appreciate the approach of the proud owner. You will certainly not buy a better one in this price range. We are happy to provide you with detailed information about the background of the car during a viewing.
